Forklift battery sizing: a practical Ah / kWh guide

Sizing an LFP pack for a forklift starts with the duty cycle, not the lead-acid nameplate. Lead-acid is typically oversized for usable capacity (50% DoD); LFP is rated to 95–100% DoD.

We walk through a step-by-step calculation: average current draw, shift length, opportunity-charge windows, and a 20% headroom margin. The same approach applies to AWPs and pallet trucks.
